About Wrestling
Wrestling is a martial art that uses grappling type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. A wrestling bout is a physical competition, between two sparring partners or teams, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules in wrestling and it is one of the oldest forms of combat. Although professional wrestling started out as petty acts in sideshows, traveling circuses and carnivals, today it is a billion-dollar industry. Matches are held between two or more corners. Each corner may consist of one wrestler, or a team of two or more. Most team matches are governed by tag team rules. Other matches are free-for-alls, with multiple combatants but no teams. In all variants, there can be only one winning team or wrestler.
